Anna Suicide Attempt

Simon invited some friends from youth group over to hang out.  The group of 6 or so kids were having a great time.  Anna was hanging out with the girls and seemed to be fitting in and having fun.  The girls were sitting on the couch together looking at Anna's yearbook.  

At one point the kids ended up in the garage.  Simon and Anna had an exchange of words where Anna whispered under her breath that Simon was body shaming her.  Simon told her to say it in front of everyone and when she did Simon said something strong to her and Anna stormed off.  It turned that nice night into another source of conflict for the two.

Today Anna attempted suicide by taking 20 pills of 40 mg Prozac.  This describes that experience.  

I was eating breakfast and doing school work at the kitchen table.  Anna sat by me and we started talking.  She asked about the status of the Buck.  (I had attempted to replace the pee cock to stop a coolant leak but I couldn't do the repair successfully.)  I told her that it wasn't fixed and it is going to be a larger repair.  I then went on to tell her that we are going to delay her getting her license until there is a more pertinent reason for her to get her license, like a job or doing high school sports.  She was upset about this and her trust in me was hurt because I had made her this promise if she started the school year with good grades.  

She then went up to her room.  Later that morning Simon was in the kitchen with Susie and me and he said that Anna told him that she and Morgan had stole some clothes from a store amounting to about $120.  Susie and I decided that we needed to talk to her about this.  We decided that I would go to her room first and see if it was true and if she would admit to it.  If it was true, Susie was going to come up and talk to Anna with me and we were going to give her a consequence.  I went to her room and she admitted it was true.  Except they each stole about $40 of clothes and it was a while back.  I told her that this will result in a consequence and that we would be telling Morgan's parents.  I went on to tell Anna that she would be grounded from handing out with Morgan for 1 week.  She was disappointed because, apparently, she and Morgan has plans that afternoon to go shopping for homecoming dresses.  

When I came back downstairs Simon was explaining that he was upset about the argument that he and Anna had on Friday night.  Then, at some point, Simon went into Anna's room and said that, according to Simon she was 'being pathetic', according to Anna, that she 'is pathetic.'  

After about 30 minutes after talking with Simon Susie got a text from Danika.  It said the Anna had texted her and told her she tried to OD on the Prozac.  This was around 1:30 pm.  Danika told us that we needed to take her to Caseman hospital.  

So, without too many words, Anna and I drove to caseman.  I asked her a few questions on the way but she was not wanting to talk.  

We arrived around 2:30 pm.  We waited behind a woman who had cut her hand badly.  After the intake nurse talked to her we waited about 5 minutes before being called up.  I told them why we were there, that she had taken several pills.  He asked for specifics right there in the lobby and I told him.  

We then sat down and waited about 10-15 minutes.  We were watching the staff work on the woman with this injured hand while we waited.  

We continued to wait for about 10 minutes and then were called back.  A nurse sat down with Anna and they asked her a series of questions.  It was difficult to hear Anna answer yes to questions such as did you plan to kill yourself and did you have a plan of action for killing yourself.  

It didn't talk long, may 5 minutes, before Anna and I were escorted back to a room and Anna was given some paper scrubs to change into.  She has to remove all of her possessions besides her nose ring.  She sat down on the bed and a nurse assistant checked her vitals.  She was young and very sweet to anna.  Another young black man was the nurse for Anna.  He wanted to ask anna some questions so I left the room while they talked.  Anna asked if I would leave the room.  I really don't know what her reasoning is for that, I assume she just able to be more honest without me in the room.  

When he was done we just sat and waited.  That must have been about 3:30.  It was quite uneventful during that time.  At around 5 I left to get some dinner.  I got a salad and drink from the Maverick gas station up the street.  I sat in the car and watch some Ozark while I ate.  I didn't really want to go back in but figured it was getting close to 6 so I went back inside.  We didn't get much information and Anna was commenting that she was bored.  It was nice being with her and she seemed completely fine.  We watched several episodes of Seinfeld and The Cronks movie.  The nurse came in at about 8 pm to check vitals and I asked about their plans for Anna.  He said she should be cleared by poison control at 10 pm and the psychiatrist works until 11, so if he meets with her she may get to go home that night.  It was right about that time that Anna had her seizure.  I was standing at the side of her bed and caught her head as she was shaking uncontrollably.  

I forgot to mention that all during this time I was texting with Susie with updates.  I also talked to Elijah for a while.
